The 19-year-old man was spotted on camera urinating through a fence into the Mount Tabor Reservoir No. 5 in Southeast Portland and this is not the first time when such a thing happens in the city’s history. In June 2011, the city drained a 7.5 million-gallon reservoir. “Our customers have an expectation that their water is not deliberately contaminated,” said in a statement David Shaff, administrator of the Portland Water Bureau. Portland’s water system delivers drinking water to about 935,000 people in the area. The teenager involved was cited for public urination. The authorities expressed hope that this unfortunate situation will be an opportunity for reflection and an urge for civic behavior, especially for the young people.
