Her 69-year-old father, Patrick Snay, lost his job as the headmaster at Gulliver Preparatory School in Miami when the school decided not to renew his contract back in 2010.

The man has been a Gulliver's employee for several year and his case in court against the school brought him a winning settlement of $80,000. The verdict said Snay would get the money but both him and the school were not allowed to talk about this as part of the stipulated confidentiality clause.

Dana Snay found out about the case verdict and eventually bragged about it on Facebook with the following status message: "Mama and Papa Snay won the case against Gulliver. Gulliver is now officially paying for my vacation to Europe this summer. SUCK IT.". The word of mouth helped spread this news and eventually the school's lawyers who heard what happened appealed the verdict. Earlier this week the third District Court of Appeal voided the previous $80,000 settlement. Judge Linda Ann Wells who presided the case concluded: "His daughter then did precisely what the confidentiality agreement was designed to prevent."
