A woman was injured in a bear attack in Florida

It’s not very clear but it is supposed that Chalfant was attacked by a black bear. Tuesday night the authorities captured a female yearling bear. The DNA of the animal will be used to clarify if it is responsible for the attack but the Florida Fish and Wildlife officials don’t believe it. A representative, Karen Parker, told to journalists that a bear’s attack is unusual because “they’re pretty much more afraid of you than you are on them and normally when they see a human and they’ve not been fed and have not been habituated they’re going to run away. They don’t want to encounter us any more than we want to encounter them.”
The first documented bear attack in FWC’s history happened in March 2012 and it was in similar conditions when a person walked her dog. Even relocated, bears can find their way back. The black bear is protected in Florida where it is illegal to injure or kill one.
