Tattoo policy became more strict for the US army

For actual soldiers, breaking the new policy will have as a consequence that they will have to pay to get the ink removed from their body. For the new recruits, the new rules will be applied from the beginning. Each military branch has its own policies regarding tattoos.
According to a 2012 Harris Poll, one in five people in the United States has a tattoo, with an increased rate for those between ages of 18 to 24. Most people which accept tattoos think however that in the military a unified look is important.
