Towson University suspends cheerleading team for hazing

Vice president Deb Moriarty stands by the decision of suspension for all 30 members of the cheerleading championship squad: "We hold high expectations for all of our students and their conduct as leaders, both on and off campus… Out of concern for students’ privacy and their rights to due process that includes their right to appeal the suspension, it would be inappropriate for the university to comment further"

The complaints which lead to this decision involve cheerleaders hazing newcomers. In campus some students believe the decision to be a bit harsh but most agree that hazing must be punished.

Towson University's zero tolerance to any forms of hazing is nothing out of the ordinary but seeing an entire team suspended for the duration of an entire year is something really rare
