The woman is in critical condition at Maui Memorial Medical Center and good news are not yet issued.
The type of shark which bit the young woman is unknown as the water had limited visibility at the time.
Hawaii vacancies are not considered dangerous. However, six shark attacks occurred this year through the end of July. Three of them were on Maui.
The only thing that officials have to say is a recommendation: avoid being in the water at dawn and dusk. Sharks can’t be controlled in the ocean water. The Tiger shark is a species most involved in such attacks. However, it is commonly affirmed and proved that biting humans is not their usual behavior and probably this can occur in special conditions.
For their victims this motivation doesn’t change things.
The beach where the shark attack occurred was reopened a day after.
