The deck was built in wood. People implicated in this accident have many traumatic injuries but they don’t have to fear for their lives. They were transported in emergency to several hospitals after the accident: at Brunswick Novant Medical Center, Grand Strand Regional Center in Myrtle Beach and New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.
The house where this accident occurred was inspected ten years ago, when the construction was achieved. This is a private residence, rented by a couple at the moment. An official appreciated that “these oceanfront decks need to be held to a higher standard than North Carolina laws require”.
The real cause of the deck collapse is not yet known. An answer from the local building inspectors is attempted. It’s however supposed that the weight of the 25 persons on the place was too much.
