Southern Baptist Convention’s motion against Scouts

As it was attended, this year Southern Baptist Convention denounced Scouts for allowing gay youth to be members. The Boy Scouts of America, founded in 1910, constituent member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement is one of the largest organizations in America with 2.7 million youth members and over 1 million adult volunteers. His proposal and big goal is to train youth in outdoor activities, educational and career oriented programs, growing them as responsible citizens.

It is well known the position affirmed for many years by Southern Baptists against gay marriage and homosexuality. His attitude conducted in 1997 even to boycott The because they hosted gay theme nights on the entertainment W.D. parks. Regarding the motion against Boy Scouts of America, it should be noted that Southern Baptist Churches are independent and can’t be obliged to no longer sponsor Scouts.

Among other statements, delegates passed a resolution calling on all Southern Baptists to report to authorities any child abuse. They asked at the same time to all Southern Baptist to work to support people with mental health issues.
