A total of seven people, five passengers and two train workers, suffered only minor injuries and their life was not endangered. Wayne Woods rushed to the scene of the train accident as soon as he heard the crash. According to his statement he called in the emergency and tried to stop traffic until help arrived.
He declared: “We heard the crash and we stepped outside and my son said the overpass was down. Then we heard a car’s tires squealing like it was coming to a stop and then a crash and a horn continuously blowing”
While the collision between the Union Pacific and the BNSF Railway Co trains also sparked a fire as fuel leaked from one of the train engines the fire was stopped quickly.
