Knapp was apprehended outside an isolated cabin after firing several harmless shots. Sevier County Sheriff Nathan Curtis explained that Knapp laughed off the arrest saying that the officers had “really snuck up” on him. He is said to have dropped his rifle and surrendered. Authorities had spent the entire weekend planning a stealth search for Knapp, after receiving a tip from hunters on Good Friday on Knapp’s whereabouts.
45 year old Knapp is said to have burglarized dozens of cabins in the Utah mountains and taunted the owners with notes which he left behind reading ‘get off my mountain.’ He also left notes for sheriffs in several counties reading ‘gonna put you in the ground!’
Knapp faces several counts of multiple felonies spanning across four counties and he is also said to have shot at a police helicopter as well as officers. Knapp will appear before a Sanpete County court on several counts of felony charges.
