Some of the schools in the Northwest Suburban regions which have closed down include Mount Prospect Elementary in District 57, Barrington Unit in District 220, Kane County’s Kaneland in District 302, Rolling Meadows High School in District 214, Lincolnshire-Prairieview in District 103 and many more schools. Country Trails is among the schools in District U-46 which are reported to have closed down yesterday night.
However, some of the schools in the South and West Surbarbs like St. Charles in District 303 and Naperville Unit School in District 203 were absent from the list of schools which closed down. These schools websites have also not indicated whether or not they may be closing down today.
Dan Bridges, the Superintendent of Naperville District 203, said that uncertainty was what caused most schools to close down not knowing when the storm could hit. He added that the safety of the children was of utmost importance, but at the same time some schools didn’t want to close down earlier than necessary. Up to 10 inches of snow is expected to come with the snow as reported by the National Weather Service.
