Andrew Smith, the commander for Los Angles Police denied news reports made earlier that the ex-cops body had been found in the mountain cabin. He said that it was still extremely hot and as such, inspectors were not able to access it. Earlier, authorities had confirmed that a gunshot was heard inside and immediately afterwards, fire spread throughout the cabin. Police got a lead of where he was holing up from a description.
The suspect’s truck was found in Big Bear Lake region and the police decided to move their search there after looking for him without much luck. Police were forced to offer the families of more than 50 police officers protection in fear that the ex-cop would harm them as a means of avenging what he termed unjustifiable dismal from work.
