$1.5 billion aid for Syrian refugees announced by the UN

On Wednesday, the United Nations announced that, in excess of 525,000 Syrians have already crossed the neighboring nations. The UN estimated that in excess of a million will escape in the next 6 months.

The body is of the opinion that one quarter of Syrian population requires the fundamental needs such as, food, medical treatment, shelter, clothes and other relief support putting an end to approximately 2 years of war.

The United Nations is anticipating that the situation will only get worse in the coming year and has urged for an additional aid of $520 million. This amount will aid in contributing an estimated 4 million people inside Syria. These people needs urgent help.  According to reports from the United Nations, the number of Syrians sufferings has increased 4 times from March 2012 to December 2012.

A huge section of Syrians have fled during this on-going war. 2,000 to 3,000 refugees have crossed into Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey.
