President Trump is in a state visit in Japan

U.S. President Trump is on a four days state visit to Japan, where he earlier said Tokyo has “had a substantial advantage” over Washington for “many, many years.” President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump participate in a welcome ceremony with Japanese Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo on Monday. The Sunday part of the American visit included a golf game, participation at a sumo wrestling tournament and a dinner double date with their wives. A news conference and an imperial banquet are scheduled.

Trump talks trade, North Korea with Japanese PM Shinzo Abe .The President said Tokyo and Washington were “getting close” to a deal that would address the U.S. trade deficit. “There has been nothing but bonhomie between President Trump, currently in Japan, and Japan prime Minister (Shinzo) Abe, ”, head of foreign exchange strategy at National Australia Bank, Ray Attrill ,wrote in a morning note. The pair are likely to touch on the ongoing China-US trade war, which has hurt US allies including Japan. Later Mr Trump will meet the families of Japanese citizens who were abducted by North Korea decades ago.
