A former Uruguayan beauty queen was found dead in a Mexican hotel

Fatimih Davila Sosa from Uruguay, who represented her country at the Miss Universe pageant in 2006, 31-year-old, was found hanged early Thursday in the guest bathroom at a hotel in the Mexican capital.

Local officials said the pageant queen arrived at the Mexico City hotel April 23 ahead of a job interview. The name of the hotel has not been publicly revealed.  Her Instagram account said she had been based in Mexico as a model. Her motto was “Enjoy every moment in your life.” She also said a few months ago: „Let’s start the year 2019 smiling and with good vibes.” Davila worked as a model in the years following her pageant competitions including a short stint on the Televisa soap opera “The Triumph of Love.” There was no official ruling on the manner of death.

The prosecutor’s office said it launched a homicide investigation to look into the circumstances surrounding the hanging and whether the woman killed herself or was slain. Investigators are also looking into the possibility that Davila may have been the victim of a prostitution web that promises foreign women work as a model in Mexico.
