In a statement foreign minister of Denmark said that Denmark is pleased to vote in favor of Palestine becoming a non member observer state. The statement went on to say that earlier it was not clear on what Palestine wanted but now after several weeks of discussion a resolution was put forward yesterday and Denmark supports it.

The resolution is expected to be passed as it is getting backing of 193 of the UN member states.

The proposed regulation will also enhance the chances of the Palestinians inclusion into the UN agencies and the International Criminal Court.  Inclusion into the organization is important since the Palestinians wants to challenge Israel’s occupation of the West Bank.

The new proposal is opposed by the Israelis and the Americans. They insist that direct talks on a peace agreement are the only way to build a Palestinian state.

On Tuesday, France on has agreed to support the Palestinian bid.
