A car was stolen in Melbourne and found 20 minutes later, baby boy inside

A car was stolen on Melbourne with an eight-week-old baby boy inside.

The white Hyundai Tucson was taken from outside a medical centre on Bush Boulevard in South Morang and the boy's mother couldn’t stop the thief escaping. The car was dumped after 20 minutes outside a Home Maker Centre on Plenty Road, with the baby boy asleep. The infant was asleep the whole time. Mother has been reunited with her baby boy. The offender then ran off and was last seen near the intersection of McDonalds Road and Plenty Road.

Now searching the man, police are scouring extensive CCTV footage in the area to piece together his movements. Police issued an alert shortly after 11.30am describing the offender as caucasian, with light olive skin, wearing a black T-shirt with a white print on the front and a khaki coloured baseball car and sunglasses. CCTV footage shows the offender taking a phone call shortly after dumping the vehicle. Police have urged the suspect to surrender himself immediately. A massive manhunt is underway. Officers from Mill Park, Eltham, Mernda, Epping, Greensborough, Diamond Creek and the air wing are currently searching for him.
