Raids in recent weeks have been carried out across properties linked to Mr Najib and police recovered $273m in luxury goods and cash from a raid in June, calling the seizure of valuables the biggest in Malaysian history. 1400 necklaces, 567 handbags, 423 watches, 2200 rings, 1600 brooches and 14 tiaras were included in the seizure. After his arrest, a small group of Mr Najib’s supporters gathered outside the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, where the former prime minister was being held. Mr Najib has consistently denied taking money from 1MDB or any public funds. „I have not had a chance to defend myself,” Najib said. A spokesman for Najib said the SRC charges and the 1MDB investigations against the former leader were “politically motivated”, and that Najib will contest these charges and clear his name in court.
