Dense fog affected Sydney on Thursday morning


Due to this visibility is down to just 50 metres at various locations in western Sydney including Richmond, Campbelltown and Bankstow. The Harbour Bridge was barely visible due to fog. Temperatures plummeted to just 11C in the city and as low as 8C in the west at 7am.  Flight delays and cancellations were forced at Sydney Airport. A Sydney airport spokesman tweeted  saying customers should check their flights before traveling. It was produced commuters chaos in a stressful morning. Some ferries between Manly and Circular Quay, Taronga Zoo, Mosman, Double Bay, Watsons Bay and along the Parramatta River have also been cancelled or delayed. A ferry at Parramatta turned back earlier this morning.

With dangerous driving conditionsm, delays are also being reported on the M4 and M7 motorways.The deluge of rain that has struck Sydney in the past few days is being blamed for the fog. This has caused increased moisture in the atmosphere, which has combined with dropping temperatures. Hundreds are taking to social media to share their eerie pictures of the dense haze. Fog was expected to clear by mid-morning, with Sydneysiders expected to enjoy sunny skies and temperatures in the low 20s across the city.
