The Humboldt Broncos junior ice hockey team had an horrible bus accident, 14 were killed


The Humboldt Broncos were travelling on Highway 35, north of Tisdale in the province of Saskatchewan. The team bus of the Humboldt Broncos was on the way to Nipawin for Game 5 of its SJHL semifinal series. The lorry and the bus collided at around 17:00 local time (23:00 GMT). The other 14 aboard the bus have been taken to hospital in critical condition. STARS air ambulance has sent two helicopters to the scene.The  team list shows the players are aged between 16 and 21.

Humboldt’s Elgar Petersen Arena was turned into a mobile crisis unit, as people gathered to support one another. „I cannot imagine what these parents are going through, and my heart goes out to everyone affected by this terrible tragedy, in the Humboldt community and beyond,” Prime Minister Justin Trudeau wrote in a tweet. Team president Kevin Garinger released a statement extending “our thoughts and prayers” to the families of staff and athletes. The Nipawin Apostolic Church, located at 109 Fourth Avenue East, is serving as a gathering place for families, and more information will be shared there. The community was coming out to help.
