The design was made by French designer Phillipe Stack and Steve Jobs himself.
The ship is built entirely out of aluminum and measures up to 80 meters. The yacht is lighter than other yachts of the same size and thus it is also faster. Even though Steve Jobs was in general humble about many parts of his life, this Yacht doesn’t fit his humble life style. The yacht features a built-in Jacuzzi right next to a uniquely designed sun deck and an all glass cabin.
The yacht’s controls and navigation are handled by seven iMacs located in a bridge that tops the glass cabin. Some say that Steve Jobs was building the yacht for himself. Walter Isaacson reveals details that suggest otherwise in his biography of Steve Jobs. Isaacson relates: “Jobs was still fiddling with the design. <<I know that it’s possible I will die and leave Laurene with a half-built boat>> he said. <<But I have to keep going on it. If I don’t, it’s an admission that I’m about to die>>”.
Steve Jobs never got to enjoy and test the boat with his family. But when Feadship finished building the yacht the Jobs family invited the shipbuilders and had a christening party for the boat. All workers got an iPod Shuffle engraved with the word Venus as a thank you for their work.
