A massive power outage affected about 60,000 homes and businesses in Sydney, Australia

The Transport Management Centre asked drivers to take extreme care and follow directions of police manning key intersections. They even asked to avoid traveling in the areas affected, if possible. The TMC also advised people travelling to Sydney Airport to catch a T2 Airport Line train. Because the traffic in the area is extremely heavy was expected that the residents and businesses in the area affected will have to wait longer than normal as the team workers will arrive in the critical points to restore the power. Light rail was also not running between Lilyfield and Dulwich Hill and replacement buses have been organized. Finally, the power was fully restored. The blackout was caused by a faulty piece of equipment inside the Canterbury substation. Not all the disrupted services were restored yet.
