The premier Auction Management Agency, Auction Cause, listed it for sale with the opening bid of 3 million. The details provided on the eBay listing page were enough to convince an anonymous bidder to bid on the original handwritten letter and envelope originally sent by Einstein to Jewish philosopher Eric Gutkind on January 3, 1954.

eBay user o**h put a bid of 3 million dollars only 10 minutes after bidding began. His feedback is 0% and in the last 30 days he only put a bid on this auction. But this does not mean that the anonymous bidder is not a wealthy man/woman that is a huge fan of Albert Einstein.

The letter expresses Albert Einstein’s views on the existence of God. Einstein describes God as “nothing more than the product of human weakness” In the same letter the Bible is described as being “a collection of honorable yet still primitive tales which are ultimately very childish”

A translation of what Albert Einstein wrote in the letter reads: “For me the Jewish religion like all other religions is an incarnation of the most childish superstitions. And the Jewish people to whom I gladly belong and with whose mentality I have a deep affinity have no different quality for me than all other people.”
