At least 41 people were killed and 10 injured when a bus and a truck crashed in southeastern Brazil on a highway outside the town of Taguai, in the Sao Paulo state, on Wednesday. The bus was carrying employees on their way to work at a textile factory. São Paulo Military spokesman Lieutenant Alexandre Guedes said some of the passengers where stuck inside the bus. When rescue workers arrived at the scene, “there were bodies everywhere.”Police said 37 people were killed at the scene. Four more died of their injuries in hospital. Most of the injured passengers were rushed to medical facilities in the cities of Taguaí, Fartura, Taquarituba. Local officials made an appeal for blood donations. Images from the scene showed the vehicles smashed into pieces, debris strewn across the road.
Video and mages of the scene showed dozens of victims lying on the ground next to the bus. There were 53 people on the bus. The truck driver was injured but survived the accident. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash. The crash was one of the worst in recent memory in Brazil.
