After explosions the area was devastated. The fireworks market is the size of a soccer stadium and had 300 stalls. Emergency responders and paramedics were at the scene. Images posted on social networks and news websites showed a thick column of grey smoke billowing high into the sky above the market. Secondary explosions continued more than an hour afterwards.
