Accident on Harmony of the Seas, one killed, many injured


Harmony of the Seas ,the 120,000-tone liner five times the volume of the Titanic, which can carry nearly 6,400 passengers and 2,400 crew, operated by Royal Caribbean, based in Florida, was docked at Marseille. French gendarmes have opened an inquiry into the cause of the accident and are examining why cables attaching the lifeboat to the liner suddenly broke. Royal Caribbean said: “We regret the sad death of a crew member of the Harmony of the Seas that happened this morning during a rescue exercise in the port of Marseille. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims and other members of our crew.” The liner only had its maiden voyage on 29 May. Now it is on an eight day cruise around the Mediterranean having left Rome on September 8. It had already stopped in Naples, Barcelona and on the Spanish island of Majorca before arriving in Marseille. the investigation into the lifeboat incident is expected to delay its departure for Italy.
