Joshua Shelton, the drunken 21 year old man now faces serious accusations despite his story. Delmar farmer, Mark Shockley found nearly 70K chickens dead Saturday morning. Shelton was found nearby sleeping by the circuit breakers in the power control area. He was wearing only boxers and a T-shirt.
Police will check Shelton’ story and decide if this was indeed an unfortunate accident or it was a criminal act.
Communities near-by as well as the executive director of Delmarva Poultry Industry are completely astounded. Executive Bill Satterfield declared: “I have never heard of a drunkard going in and killing chickens.” He then added: “This is a new one on me, and it’s unfortunate that it occurred.”
The damage is estimated at more than $20000.
