The aircraft was ordered it to land at the nearest airport. The plane was evacuated and searched by local authorities. No bomb was found after the Airbus A330-220 and its passengers were searched by explosives experts. The airport in Urgench has been closed following the EgyptAir plane’s emergency landing. The aircraft was cleared to go and took off for the Chinese capital four hours after. This year has seen a number of international flights make emergency landings after false bomb threats. There was no statement from EgyptAir or official confirmation that the threat was a hoax. EgyptAir has received a number of bomb threats since one of its aircraft crashed into the Mediterranean on 19 May.
