EgyptAir plane from Paris to Cairo disappeared over the Mediterranean Sea

The plane was traveling at 37,000 ft (11,280 meters) when it disappeared. It was an Airbus A320 and has gone missing over the Mediterranean Sea shortly before it was due to land in Egypt.The airline said it was fading when air traffic control lost contact with the plane at 02:45 Cairo time, 15 minutes before it was set to land. Egyptian officials have sent out search and rescue teams. Due to increased people interest the EgyptAir website crashed.

There’s “no information” that the flight encountered severe weather, and it would not have gone over conflict areas. There’s no reports of a distress call from the pilot of the missing plane. The Boeing Statistical Summary of Commercial Jet Airplane Accidents says A320 aircraft have one of the lowest fatality rates of any family of jets, even they have been involved in several aviation incidents.

UPDATE

The wreckage of the Cairo-bound jet was located close to the island of Karpathos.“If you analyse the situation properly, the possibility of having a terror attack is higher than the possibility of having a technical (issue),” said Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation, Sherif Fathi.Last minte info seems to link this case to ISIS action.
