Even if this will not be an immediate action, Guzman was transferred last week from the maximum-security Altiplano lockup in central Mexico to a prison in Ciudad Juarez Recently, a Mexican lawyer leading Guzman’s legal defense team affirmed his client wanted to be extradited to the United States “as soon as possible” because conditions at Altiplano were unbearable and making him seriously ill. Once he  will be transferred, Guzman will be sent to Brooklyn, to stand trial on federal charges, the officials told to the media.

Guzman has twice escaped from prison before , imagining unusual methods, even through a mile-long tunnel.. He faces multiple criminal charges. “Juárez remains one of his strongholds. He’s a powerful person, the most powerful cartel leader of our time,” said Arturo Fontes, who for more than half of his 28 years as an FBI agent tracked Guzmán.
