Turkey has been hit by a series of suicide bombings this year, and this time was the fifth in a major urban center. Bursa is Turkey’s fourth-largest city, an industrial hub directly south of Istanbul across the Marmara Sea. The mosque is situated in a bustling part of Bursa on a street full of jewelry shops.More, the explosion came at a busy time, shortly after a funeral and afternoon prayers. Examinations of the security forces on the attack were ongoing. Firefighters and health teams were deployed to the scene following the attack as shops nearby were damaged. Health Minister Mehmet Müezzinoğlu said that wounded people’s condition was not critical. The only death was the attacker herself. Police cordoned off the blast site.
