Waiting for rain, public workers in Venezuela have now a two days workweek

The water level behind the nation’s largest dam has fallen to near its minimum operating level thanks to a severe drought. Venezuela has 2.8 million government workers. Because its economy is based on petrol, being an oil rich country, Venezuela was affected hard by the drop in global oil prices. The new measure won’t include workers “in sensitive sectors such as food.” The situation “would return to normal when it started raining again,” the hope is. But the opposition has accused the government of mismanaging the crisis.  At the same time, Venezuela’s electoral authorities (the National Electoral Council) accepted the right-wing opposition’s request to initiate the procedure for a recall referendum against President Nicolas Maduro.
