WikiLeaks has published and commented on leaked documents. It harshly criticized government and corporate misconduct.
Assange is wanted in Sweeden for questioning in a rape case against him. He and his fans fear that Sweden wants him just so that they can extradite him to the US. Julian Assange will face charges there over the site Wikileaks and he can even get the death penalty.
He says: “The United States must renounce its witch hunt against WikiLeaks. The Unites States must dissolve its FBI investigation. The United States must vow that it will not seek to prosecute our staff or our supporters.”
There were many speculations that Assange could try getting in Ecuador by using different ways. By helicopter was not possible because the embassy does not have direct access to the roof. Another variant was that he could escape the embassy in the trunk of a car. Unfortunately the embassy does not have a garage and such an attempt would result in the immediate arrest of Assange which is wanted by London police.
During his statement 200 people gathered near the embassy to hear his speech and the police did not try to arrest him.
