Pussy Riot sang back in February a protest song against Rusia’s president Vladimir Putin in a cathedral in Moscow.

Prosecutors asked for a 3 years sentence for each member of Pussy Riot. Pussy Riot did not mean any disrespect to president Vladimir Putin or to the Orthodox Religion. The protest song was against the fact that the Russian Orthodox Church offered support in president Vladimir Putin’s election.

People world-wide began protests against what they consider to be a new big abuse from Russian authorities’ part. The Pussy Riot verdict drew criticism around the globe. A female activist from Ukraine chainsawed a Memorial Cross while being topless in order to express her protest against the sentence given to Pussy Riot.

The feminist punk-rock band Pussy Riot was forgiven by the Russian Orthodox Church. Today, two top clerics from Moscow announced that the church has forgiven the three members of the troupe for their actions. The clerics also added that the accusations that the Church did not forgave them are false. They added: “We forgive them from the very start. But such actions should be cut short by society and authorities.”
