Traffickers probably planned to just grind the grains into fine powder and sell it as cocaine. Twelve suspects, among them Argentines and Colombians, have been arrested in what people are calling “Operation White Rice.” Traffickers are increasingly using Argentina’s roads and ports as trade route for cocaine produced in Bolivia, Peru and Colombia. Experts say the drug enters Argentina by truck or plane from Andean cocaine-producing countries to the north. “Most likely, this was a test run. And if it had gone through, they would have followed through with larger volume,” customs chief Guillermo Michel told to the media.
