Each participant is asked to provide a symbolic portion of cremated remains (400 cubic millimeters) to be placed into a personalized capsule which finally will be landed in the northeast part of the Moon. A personal message will be printed on the capsule module.
“Instead of looking down upon the Earth in reminiscence, we can raise our eyes to the eternal wonders within the night sky, knowing that our loved ones are always with us,” the company says. However, to launch the human remains to the moon is not the only proposed alternative. Other two alternatives exist: to be launched into Earth orbit or to be launched into deep space, escaping the solar system (which is called “Milky Way Memorial”). Different prices applies and if for some reason a such mission fails the customers will have a second chance without additional costs. The company can’t guarantee the launch at a due date. For the first stage of the project, scheduled late in 2015 reservation is full. Elysium Space was founded in 2013.
