Trading international scheme involving hackers was discovered, dozens were arrested

They hacked newswire services, including PR Newswire, Business Wire and Marketwired LP and transmitted the stolen data, valuable info, to traders in Russia, Ukraine, Malta, Cyprus, France  and three U.S. states: Georgia, New York and Pennsylvania. The created a “video tutorial” to help traders view the stolen releases, and were paid a portion of the profits from trades.Thirty-two people – their “network” -were arrested under criminal and civil charges. International arrest warrants were issued today to retain Turchynov and Ieremenko. “The traders used their market sophistication and their experience to decide when and how to exploit the financial information,” U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York Kelly Currie said Tuesday.The complete investigation is ongoing. Authorities received cooperation from distributors.
