The pilot contacted the Irish Aviation Authority’s (IAA) North Atlantic Communications Service center at Ballygirreen in Co Clare, advising them of the situation and requesting authorities be on standby for their arrival in Shannon. This wasn’t a simple operation. The Boeing 777-300 jet was over 1,000 kilometers north west of Shannon. The crew was forced to dump a part of the aviation fuel over the Atlantic to ensure the jet could touch down within safe landing weight limits. After landing, the woman was arrested and taken to Shannon Gardaí¬ station for questioning. MailOnline Travel have been advised by Irish police that the woman has since been released without charge, and she will be undergoing a ‘fit-to-fly- screening’ in the hope of continuing her journey.
