The final agreement must say that Iran’s nuclear program has no military aspect or intent and Iran does not develop a nuclear weapon. However, Iran will have a controlled and limited uranium enrichment program. As described by the participants in this first negotiation, it was a good atmosphere but none of them provided details from the discussions. In fact, it is supposed that at this meeting the priority was to set an agenda without examining yet any of the identified issues.
The European Union’s foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton appreciated that they “had three very productive days” and added: “There is a lot to do, it won’t be easy, but we have made a good start.” Thinking on the same believed good perspective, an American representative official said: “This is going to be both a marathon and a sprint at the same time.”
All the parts had agreed not to make comments that might hurt the chance of a successful negotiation.
