They traveled 10 – 12 miles daily without being stopped by the strong winds and low temperatures that dipped to minus 35 degrees Celsius (30 degrees Fahrenheit).A such performance is not possible without special preparation and they had a good one, completing a cold-weather training in Iceland in March, a training in the summer and a final training in October, before departure.
“(…) What an amazing accomplishment”, said Prince Harry at the South Pole, and as a member of Britain’s armed forces he added immediately: “Mission success !”
The Walking with the Wounded charity supports men and women who were injured during the military service.
