Eight people killed and dozens injured at a three days extreme show in Mexico


Twelve victims remained in intensive care, including four in critical condition. Among the dead were two girls ages 6 and 7 and a 12 year old boy. The governor of the Chihuaha state declared three days of mourning.
According to the spokesman for the Chihuaha state prosecutors’ office, driver Francisco Velasquez appeared to lose control of the truck. At least two witnesses reported observing the driver have hit his head on the interior of the truck. Prosecutors consider also the possibility of a mechanical failure that made the driver unable to release the gas pedal. A video taken by a spectator shows the entire accident. It will be used by investigators. They have to answer too about possible violations of safety rules, by the organizers of the show.
The show was cancelled in its second day after the accident. The driver was detained Sunday on suspicion of manslaughter.
