In EU states all clandestine migrants who arrive by boats are first evaluated in order to be decided if they have a real reason for looking to live in Europe.
In the last two days over 700 migrants have been rescued from boats off the coast of Italy. The rescued people who got into trouble off Sicily are mainly from Syria, Nigeria, Egypt and Eritrea. One family of four, who was hiding in an open boat, had to be rushed to a local hospital.
One of the main reasons Italy is seeing more and more refugees trying to move in is because of the increase in violence in countries such Egypt and Syria. Italy is having problems housing all of them and has asked other EU countries to help share the burden.
