Toyota voluntary recall for safety issues affects Lexus and Highlander hybrids

The automobile producer found an issue in the new hybrid models because some transistors could be damaged by heat due to variations in characteristics. This can cause the vehicle to lose power and even to go into limp mode, which can be a cause to exit the road.
Another potential defective piece for some vehicles is concerning the malfunctioning of the variable valve for timing control in certain situations. This can cause again the vehicle to stop. According to a Toyota spokesman, Cindy Knight, the producer was not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the mentioned problem. However, since 2010 Toyota has paid four civil fines to the safety agency for delay on voluntary recall of vehicles having safety problems.
