The U.S. Department of Justice found the release of the 60 year old Mexican kingpin to be troubling. Its statement was the following: “The Department of Justice, and especially the Drug Enforcement Administration, is extremely disappointed with this result”. The decision of an early release was not taken well by The Association of Former Federal Narcotics Agents either.
Outrage soon began among the association’s members as Quintero was referred to as a “violent butcher” and fingers were pointed towards “the shadows of the Mexican justice system”.
On the other hand experts claim that there are no “dark forces at work” here. Caro Quintero was reportedly ordered to be released because the case against him was flawed from the beginning. According to the same experts the recent Mexican court order is most likely a sign of a more powerful federal justice system. As a result it is believed that this should not have any kind of impact in the U.S.-Mexico relations.
