The attacks killed 19 soldiers and 6 assailants. In additions, dozens of others got injured. The numbers were confirmed by Niger’s minister of domestic affairs.
According to reports from the BFMTV, the Islami militant group that carried out the project is known as Movement for Unity and Jihad in West Africa in short MUJAO. Thanking to Allah, spokesperson for the group said that, they have carried out 2 successful attacks against the enemies of Islam.
Both the attacks took place at around 5 a.m. local time. The attacks turned into a battle killing both the soldiers and assailants. Niger was a former colony of France that gained independence back in 1960. On the other hand, MUJAO is considered as a splinter group of the terrorist group Al-Qaeda.
