It was the fourth verdict since this January against the Jaamat-e-Islami top leaders who also happens to be war criminals. Muhammad Kamaruzzaman aged 61 was convicted for 5 charges involving genocides, rapes, torture and kidnapping.

The head of the 3-judge tribunal, Obaidul Hassan, said that the charges have been proved without a doubt and thus the convicted will be sentenced to death. Lawyer to Muhammad Kamaruzzaman said that, justice was denied to Mr. Kamaruzzaman and he will appeal to alter the verdict.

Kamaruzzaman denied to be involved in atrocities during the war-time and said that the prosecution was intended to hurt one particular political party. That political party being the Jamaat-e-Islami and Muhammad Kamarazzuman is the assistant secretary general of Jamaat-e-Islami.

The country is in complete disarray since the time of announcement of lifetime imprisonment of Qader Mollah, another Jamaat-e-Islami leader.
