Venezuelan Vice President Nicolas Maduro announced the passing away of Mr. Hugo Chavez who was 58 at the time of his death. He could not control himself from shedding tears while making the announcement. The Vice President added that the government has deployed the Armed forces with a view to protect the Venezuelan people and ensure peace exists within the country.
Venezuela is still divided even after the election held last year in October. The government has declared one week of national mourning. One of the senior ministers said that a new election would be held by next 30 days.
The Venezuelan Foreign Minister Elias Jaua said that Mr. Hugo Chavez hand-picked Mr. Maduro as his successor and he would take over the charge of being the interim leader in the coming election.
Thousands of Chavez supporters were present in front the military hospital where Chavez died. They wept and chanted for the demise of their beloved leader.
