Boris Johnson’s newborn son was named after two doctors from the St. Thomas’ Hospital in London where the PM was treated for coronavirus.
Boris Johnson and his fiancée, Carrie Symonds, have named their newborn son Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson. “Wilfred after Boris’ grandfather, Lawrie after my grandfather, Nicholas after Dr. Nick Price and Dr. Nick Hart – the two doctors that saved Boris’ life last month,” Symonds shared on her private Instagram. She added her thanks to the maternity staff of University College London Hospital. Symonds posted a picture of her holding the newborn on Instagram on Saturday. The doctors Johnson named his son after are experts in infectious diseases and ventilation. The medics shared their “warm congratulations” with the couple. “We wish the new family every health and happiness,” they said too.
A spokesperson for Johnson shared that the new parents and the baby were all doing very well. The prime minister is expected to take a short period of paternity leave later in the year. Few British leaders have had babies while in office. Johnson finalized his divorce from Marina Wheeler, 55, in February. The couple was married for 25 years.
