A major incident has been declared in London. Fifteen fire engines and around 100 firefighters were deployed to tackle a blaze on De Pass Gardens in Barking, on Sunday afternoon.
A massive fire has engulfed a block of flats. Thick black smoke can be seen billowing into the air across the capital's skyline. There had been no reports of injuries and evacuations are in place. The ground floor to the sixth floor of the block are currently alight.The cause of the fire is not yet known.
The London Ambulance Service said it was called at 3.30pm on Sunday and sent two ambulance crews, two solo responders and its Hazardous Area Response Team. Nearby residents had been evacuated and road closures are also being put in place. People are also being urged to avoid the area.
