Police investigation showed that the vandals went after the Soldera wine from 2007 to 2012. Only the barrels holding this wine had their taps opened. The wine cellar holds the wine stocks for a local winery that is well known for its Brunello di Montalcino and Soldera wines. The owner of the wine cellar declared to the Police that probably someone is threatening him.
The one who lost the most out of this criminal attack is the owner of the winery: Gianfranco Soldera. When questioned by the Police, the man said he can’t imagine why anyone would do such a criminal act. The retail value of the washed down wine is $21 million. Gianfranco and his family don’t have sworn enemies and never received any kind of threats. With such a big loss the man can only assume the attack was “a true act of the mafia”.
